Sydney’s Newest Social Darts Concept Bar
Sydney has welcomed its latest entertainment hotspot with the opening of Flight Club, a social darts bar located in a heritage-listed building in The Rocks. Originally launched in London’s trendy Shoreditch in 2015, Flight Club has since become a global phenomenon, offering an interactive and fun-filled experience for both darts enthusiasts and novices. The venue features carefully-designed spaces that cater to a variety of social darts styles. Inspired by 1800s vintage fairgrounds and London’s high-end drinking establishments, Flight Club bars are lively and welcoming, offering a unique blend of competitive games and a vibrant atmosphere.
Flight Club’s journey in Australia began in 2021 with the opening of its first venue in Perth. The success of this outpost led to the launch of a second venue in Fremantle just two years later. In May 2024, Flight Club made its debut on the east coast with the opening of its Sydney location, and a Melbourne venue is anticipated to open later this year.
A unique venue
Flight Club Sydney is more than just a novelty destination. Housed in a beautifully refurbished three-storey building, the venue’s design draws inspiration from fairgrounds and classic London pubs. The $10 million refurbishment has transformed the heritage building into a sprawling, vintage-inspired setting that promises an unforgettable experience.
The double height main room has beautiful heritage features including a pressed tin ceiling, gently illuminated by the suspended arrangement of large and small custom made rings adorned with LED cabochon lights. The main bar and around the top of each dart board also feature cabochon lights emulating the carnival like atmosphere to the venue.
There is a complex intersection of Audio Visual, music, lighting and building control technology in the venue. Integrating Signify Dynalite and Pharos lighting controllers allows for full customisation of light and sound. Pharos RIO A provides the ability to beat match music and light sequences, as well as trigger flashing light sequences when a bullseye is hit. EldoLED flicker free drivers were used across the venue enabling cameras to detect the darts as they fly through the air. The venue also has intelligent scene setting enabling the mood to be changed depending on the time of day.
