Illuminating community and wellbeing at Forum
In the heart of Cremorne Victoria, Forum by The Commons redefines what a workplace can be. Conceived in collaboration with Foolscap Studio, the coworking space brings together a rich layering of design, wellness and community. More than just desks and meeting rooms, Forum is built as a human-centred environment, a place where connection, productivity and wellbeing flow together.
For Foolscap Studio, the design process was about balancing sophistication with approachability. Warm materials, crafted detail and natural light guide the experience, while thoughtful programming integrates social spaces, private focus zones, wellness areas and hospitality. The result is a workplace that feels dynamic and restorative.
MLP worked with Integrated Group Services to deliver lighting that was as considered as the interior design itself. Orluna’s Origin Natural range was specified throughout the project, with Cloud downlights, True Trimless adjustable fittings and a series of Cloud Mini Rods and Pendants carefully placed to shape ambience and highlight form. With CRI 98 and precision optics, the fittings provide exceptional clarity and warmth – ensuring materials, finishes and artworks are seen in their truest light.
By tailoring beam angles and mounting variations to different zones, the lighting shifts with the program of the space. Focused beams support concentrated work areas, while broader washes soften lounge and social zones. Integrated seamlessly into the architectural vision, the lighting strengthens the balance of function and atmosphere that defines Forum.
In spaces that sit at the intersection of workplace and hospitality, lighting becomes a tool for both performance and mood. At Forum, it provides the adaptability required for modern working styles while also contributing to a sense of comfort and belonging.
