Set within the Perth Train Station heritage building in the heart of Perth’s CBD, the Western Australia Tourism Visitor Centre showcases a thoughtful balance between old and new. Designed by State Twenty Eight, the space celebrates local identity and craftsmanship, with sweeping curved ceilings and indigenous artwork forming the centrepiece of the interior.

To complement these striking architectural features, MLP Light supplied a coordinated lighting package that merges precision, control, and warmth. The design utilises Modular Lighting Instruments’ Minude and Smart Lotis fittings in a refined anodised bronze finish, chosen for their compact form and architectural presence. These recessed and semi-recessed luminaires provide clean, targeted illumination across curved ceiling planes and feature zones, enhancing texture and depth without distraction.

A custom Modular Pista track system in bronze follows the flow of the ceiling’s gentle curves, reinforcing the rhythm of the space while delivering flexible, DALI-controlled lighting. Complementing this, B4 FOURline linear profiles provide diffuse ambient light across communal and circulation areas, maintaining a consistent colour temperature and visual comfort throughout.

Externally, Meyer Minispot luminaires ensure the heritage façade remains both functional and inviting after dark, offering discreet, high-performance illumination in keeping with the building’s character.

Completed in 2025, the project is a showcase of how well-considered lighting can support architectural storytelling, marrying technology with heritage detail to create a truly welcoming space for visitors to Western Australia.
